What Our Carers Say About Fostering
Our foster carers tend to be very realistic in their views about fostering. We can always rely on them to tell it ‘like it is’, some will say that they have found it challenging while others will say that the child or young person fitted into their family and lifestyle without any difficulty. It’s worth it?
There is no doubt that fostering a child or young person can be challenging, but even those who did, also found it hugely rewarding.
We have had carers say that ‘it was hard work to begin with, but the outcomes made it all worthwhile’.
Others say that fostering has changed their lives in ways they had never imagined; they felt fulfilled and proud of their role in helping to change a young person’s life for the better.
Support is available
Our foster carers say that knowing that they are never alone in what they set out to do is very reassuring.
They know that we are always on hand to support them in any way that we can.
Many of our foster carers say that the reason they choose us, and choose to stay with us, is because they can always rely on us to be there if they need support.
Our carers said that our practice of giving new carers the opportunity of being ‘linked’ with more experienced carers, was a very good one and they found it helpful. Our carer’s also said that they appreciated the opportunity of being able to meet with other carers, which they can do every 6 weeks.
We are proud of our carer’s achievements and we want them to know that we appreciate their commitment and hard work. This year and every year we organise a ‘thank you’ end of year event, which is always a great success.
