ACORN Fostering Services Ltd. (AFS) is an independent fostering agency, registered with Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI). The Agency provides good quality foster placements for children and young people up to the age of 18 years who require substitute care.

The AFS believes that children deserve the best quality of care, which helps them deal with their changing circumstances. Whatever circumstances lead to placement outside their family of origin, placement with a carer will be a traumatic experience for children, even for a short period. It is therefore our aim to provide carers who can offer a sensitive approach to children. The AFS' carers can meet the demands of children needing to be looked after, based on their life experience, their training and the support, they receive from the agency.

As an independent agency our role is to complement the fostering services provided by the local authorities. We, therefore, aim to work in partnership with them and work together with the local authority staff to achieve better outcomes for the children placed with our carers.

The ACORN Fostering Services is a private limited company. As an Independent Fostering Agency, the AFS operates in accordance with the Section 105 of the Children Act 1989 and the Fostering Services Regulations 2002. We fully comply with the guidance laid out by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI). We ensure that our policies and procedures are kept up to date in relation to changes in guidance and legislation.
