The AFS recognises that better outcomes for children placed
in substitute care can be achieved if the foster carers are
experienced, adequately supported and are given right level
of training to equipping them with necessary skills and knowledge
appropriate to the needs and demands of the child.
We recruit foster carers from a wide
range of backgrounds to reflect our multicultural society in
Britain.
The AFS has high expectations of its
foster carers, so that a high quality of care for children can
be achieved. We expect those who wish to become foster carers
should meet the requirements laid down by the Children Act 1989,
and the Fostering Services Regulations 2002.
